The Lucas County Probate Court also offers a Marriage License Certified Copy Order Form that enables interested individuals to obtain records through online or mail requests. While filling out the form, requesters must provide information such as name, date of birth, approximate date of marriage, as well as personal contact information.

The cost per copy of record obtained is $2 which must be enclosed through a money order payable to the Lucas County Probate Court.

How To View Marriage Records from Other Nearby Counties or Throughout Ohio

In situations when record seekers searching for marital information are unable to find it through marriage records’ custodians – such as when the wedding took place in a neighboring county or somewhere else in Ohio – there are other avenues that can be utilized to get the required records.

Information can be obtained through the state agency that maintains the marriage records in Ohio and makes them available to the public. The Indexed Vital Records Research form provided by Ohio History Connection enables interested parties to search for records when they have information about just the county and not the exact year when the marriage took place.

Upon entering the form, interested parties can enter the name of the marriage record being searched for, the record series, and the archive series number, and enclose a check or money order payable to Ohio History Connection, which charges $25 for each name searched for. However, the Ohio History Connection does not provide record information for several counties as specified in its Vital Records Research form.

Marriage records for counties that cannot be searched through the Ohio History Connection can be done through the specific county’s probate court.9

How To Get a Lucas County Marriage License (Overview)

To obtain a marriage license in Lucas County, Ohio, both applicants need to fill out the Online Marital License Application Form provided by the Marriage Office of Lucas County Probate Court.10, 11

Both applicants must submit a valid government-issued photo ID (state ID or driver’s license) to proceed with the license request. Any applicant under the age of 21 must also submit a certified copy of the birth certificate with the name of both parents.

On the online form, both applicants must sign digitally and take an oath via a phone call to initiate the process of marriage license request. The Lucas County Probate Court’s official website also provides a list of helpful FAQs to help users get their queries answered. When applying through the online form, a marriage license request costs $63.54, which can be paid via a debit or credit card.

A marriage license is valid for 60 days after its issuance and any applicant previously married must disclose complete details about their divorce, such as the decree of divorce signed by the judge and filed for court records.

Proof of residency for Lucas County residents is also required to process the marriage license request. Once the request form and documents have been submitted online, a judge will schedule an appointment for the oath ceremony and during the court operating hours.
